Analytics & Algorithms (Spotify For Artist)

Any platform like Spotify For Artists were built to help the artist. They give Anaylitics & Algorithms.

Both combine solve nearly every problem an artist can have.

Analytics :

Shows you how each song performs, places where your music is performing & the full story of the song performance.

Examples :

  • If you don’t know who your target audience is? That’s Analytics.
  • If you don’t know the best time of day to drop content? That’s Analytics.
  • If you don’t have an A&R? That’s Analytics.

Algorithms:

It’s a data driven curator. It puts your music where it belongs. Similar to a person that curates. A person that is a curator on Spotify puts your song on a playlist. Algorithms do the same but they do it based of the driven data.

Examples:

  • If you don’t have a team or management to help promote your content? That’s when the Algorithm comes in.
  • If you don’t have a budget to promote your music. That’s when you the Algorithm comes in.
  • If you don’t have access to curators of these big playlists, that’s when the Algorithm comes in.

Note: If you cheat the Analytics by buying fake streams, then your Algorithm will promote it to the wrong places.

Streaming Cycles:

With streaming, we can read the Analytics and determine how long your Audience is Actively listening to a song & know when to release the next song or project.

Once you see your song streams dropping down, that’s the indicator telling you it’s time to release your next song. It keeps you consistent and keeps your audience engaged.

Lead Time:

Release song at least 2 weeks in advance. This will give you access to Spotify’s tools such as the “PITCH” tool and the “Release Radar” tool.

Pitch: It gives you the opportunity to tell curators why your song should be on big playlists. It gives you the opportunity to get on a big playlist like “Rap Caviar” curated by Carl Chery. Click on the highlighted name to know who he is. The “Pitch” tool must be filled out completely. Do not leave out a thing. Be persuasive. This is very important.

Release Radar: Sends out emails to every “Follower/fan” you have when you drop a song.

They also take that new song and put it on the front page of your follower’s/fan’s Spotify, when they open it up.

They also put your song on a personal playlist they curate for that follower/fan. It actually goes out to your fans and other fans that are similar to your fans as well. That’s their Algorithm working for you for free. It picks your audience out. This is powerful if you don’t cheat the system.
