Before you begin branding your music you must find out what’s your purpose in music? Because if you don’t know, then what is there to brand? Let’s find out shall we?
Here‘s a good method!
First you have to Identify how you want your music to impact other people.
In order to do that you would have to imagine yourself where you don’t longer exist anymore. Yes, imagine you have passed away. It’s kind of weird but it will make more sense as you continue reading. Let’s call this the “Life After Death Method”
There’s many roles you occupy. Parent, sibling, song writer, performer, actor, son, daughter, fan, etc. As a person from each area of your life talks about you after you have died, what do you WANT those people to say about your life?
What impression and character would you like them to have seen in you? What contributions and achievements would you want them to remember? What difference would you like to have made? Think deeply and picture each person and what you WANT them to say. Not what you THINK they would say. Starting with the “Fan” role first.
- Here’s a little exercise for you. Pick 4 roles and tell me what you would WANT them to say.
For Example:
Role: Fan
What you’d WANT them to say :
Once you’ve taken your time with the exercise above and answered them as truthful as you can. You definitely put yourself in touch with values that matter the most to you.
- Now that we accomplished that, what’s important to you that surprised you? What was unimportant that you thought would be important? Are you living in accordance with those values? What do you need to change or improve? I would definitely like to know.
Answer those questions and share it with me.
One more, I know it seems like it’s a lot but trust me this is worth it.
- Invest more time reflecting on the “fan” portion in more detail, thinking deeply about why you want your music to impact people in this way and how to do it. Think about the things you’re already doing as a musician that give you the most fulfillment. What can you start doing? What changes can you make?
Answer those two questions. Share it with me.
Note: If you don’t comprehend, I would love to break it down for you with a 1 on 1 consultation.
